Permanent effects of flu?

Question:
Are there any permanent effects of any flu viruses or bacteria? Besides the obvious ones like hepititis, hiv, bird-flu, etc?

Answers:
Pretty much depends on the virus or bacteria. You may or may not develop immunity to it (think re-occurring strep or staph), you my or may not feel the effects of it for the rest of your life.
This is such a broad question there is really no way to answer it specifically, just a sweeping, "depends on the virus or bacteria". Sorry.
