Spontaneous Bruising?
Question:
Another time, a volleyball hit her in the leg (not at a really high speed, but it was in play at the time). Anyway, almost immediately, that entire side of her calf was a huge, dark, deep bruise, all the way from just above her ankle 2 just below her knee & several inches wide.
Sometimes, she will just be standing there & she will feel her leg do something & she will look & there will be a big bruise 4 nothing. It happens on her legs a lot, but also her arms & other places.
Anyway, just wondering if ne1 knows anything abt what would cause this.
Don't tell us 2 go 2 the doctor. We already did & they ran a bunch of test & said everything looks normal - well obviously it doesn't! She plans 2 go 2 a specialist soon, but that is far away - we need ideas 4 until then!
Answers:
she probably has low iron and/or a skin disorder that thins that layers of skin. A light bruise means the skin is damaged. A dark bruise means the skin and muscle was damaged. Only a specialist can help. Have her eat more fish, oranges, natural fruit juices. She can take over the counter iron supplements as well. But a specialist will help more.
I have heard that bruising excessively can be caused by leukemia. However that would have been ruled out by any testing that was done.
There are a number of bleeding disorders that can cause bruising, but I would think that your doctor would already have ruled out those.
I just don't think that there is a lot you can do until your friend sees the specialist. Sorry
