I'm on Microgynon 30 but i recently had a course of antibiotics for my lips will this effect my birth control?

Question:

Answers:
About a decade ago it was noted that antibiotics slowed down the absorption of birth control pills from the gut. Because of this there was a theoretical concern that they might affect the performance of the birth control pills; therefore, a warning was put out to be careful with the combination. In recent years studies have actually come in to test out this theory and as it has turned out there is only one antibiotic which has shown any effect on performance of the pill-- rifampin. This is a very infrequently used antibiotic for most situations. Certainly not for common skin infections.

Therefore, in effect one can say with fair certainty that your antibiotics will not affect your birth control.
It could. Most antibiotics tell you on the description that you should use other birthcontrol for a certain amount of time. Your doctor should already have told you during your visit when he prescribed the meds.
It already effected your birth control pills. While you are on antibiotics is makes your birth control less effective you so have to use back up protection when you have sex. The pill is still working but just less effective so you have a greater change of pregnancy.
