Could my mother's concerns be correct?(Skin Cancer)?

About 5 years ago I developed this "rash" of reddish brown spots that only seems to come around when the weather is hot. It's on my neck and shoulders and is almost barely noticeable. The dermatologist said it was Tinea Versicolor (or basically just a simple skin change, nothing more to worry about). Well, I have these freckles there and I noticed today in the shower that this one that used to be a circle is sort of jagged in shape and is red and brown. There are a few more on my shoulders, too. I also have these two moles on my right foot that started out as freckles, and my mom said that given the fact that they turned into moles and are so dark, I need to get checked out. She keeps stressing that I really should have them looked at, especially the ones on my shoulders. She had cancer in her foot but it was taken out and beaten easily. Could she be right?

if a mole or freckle changes shape, size, color, or develops jagged edges, you need to get it checked. especially if you lay out in the sun, or you have family history. just get it checked. it could be nothing. if it's something, then you catch it early.

Yes, you need to have this checked by a doctor. Skin cancer can happen in any spot on the body and does not need to be exposed to the sun. Skin cancer has been known to appear on the bottoms of a foot. So it is important to have this examined by a dermatolgist as soon as possible. Skin cancer is treatable and curable in the early stages.
