Epilepsy is a nervous system disorder and covers a wide-range of symptoms. Some people will twitch while others can collapse and have a major seizure. Some people are born with the disorder, some will develop the disorder from a head trauma and others are for unknown reasons. The brain is still an organ of great mystery.

well, epilepsy is a disease where people get seizures. in seizures the epileptic person will blank out, they dont remember them, and they cant stop them. they will feel like they are jerking around if they are moving, because they will not remember the movement in the middle of their action. people seize because of flashing colors or repeating noises. i dont really know that much about epilepsy, although i should. my mother has it, and i am blessed not to.

I had seizures for 15 years, and the way it was explained to me is that epilepsy is when a person seizes and the Dr.s can find a reason for it or document it. My tests always showed normal results and they don't know why they started or stopped. It's an embarrassing condition to have, I mean who wants to lose control of their body and be looked at as a freak by some? Because lots of people don't talk about the fact that they have it, and it's not a horribly common thing to have, many people don't ever think about it enough to find out specifics.
Sometimes it's genetic, sometimes it starts around puberty, sometimes there is a problem in the brain(tumors, etc) that cause the problem, and sometimes there is no explanation for why the seizures exist.
