Question:
I'm on weekly Herceptin and Taxol with a Taxol break after every 3 weeks. I notice that I have much more energy on the Herceptin only weeks than on the Herceptin plus Taxol weeks. The goal is to keep enough energy to be able to continue getting to the hospital for treatments to shrink the breast cancer that has traveled to my lungs. I'd appreciate any tips on diet or otherwise for staying strong.
Answers:
I didn't have Taxol, I had FEC, and I've never had Herceptin.
My advice is try to go for a walk every day; eating as good a diet as you can certainly can't hurt, but if you're like me you can't face some healthy foods during chemo.
Apart from that, rest as much your body dictates while you're having chemo,. And don't worry about keeping positive; we are often urged to do so, but there's no evidence it helps. In fact there's some evidence that some cancer patients suffer from anxiety because they can't 'be positve' as they're so often advised to be.
