Is it possible to contract something from a mosquito?

Question:
i got a lot of bites and then i started feeling very very sick. i rarely get sick so i was wondering why i feel so nauseous.. do you think this could be from the bites? i live in south east PA.

Answers:
Easter Equine Encephalitis (or known as EEE) is endemic to that area, there is a chance of malaria, but that a worse case scenario. Sometime just too many bites can shock your system, causing you to feel sick. Best thing to do is have a doctor run some blood work.
West Nile disease
Yeah. It is def. possible. There are a rising number in cases of West Nile Virus. You might want to see a doctor right away.
yes, any disease that is transmittable by blood can be carried by a mosquito.
yes like malaria or west nile dieseas
yea yellow fever,malaria,and west nile
nothing major only malaria
It is possible to contract disease from mosquitos. Encephalitis and Malaria are a couple, along with West Nile virus. You need to see your doctor.
west nile virus
you might call your doctor and explain symptoms
YES!
Yes you can, malaria, hepatitis, or anything that can be exchanged via blood.
They spread diseases like malaria. You should check out the symptoms and maybe see a doctor.
You mean like malaria or west nile virus? Lol, naw, mosquitoes are harmless dipshit.
Well the most common disease from mosquitoes is malaria but I doubt mosquitoes in PA carry it. I think you should go see a doctor just in case.
i would go to the doctor as u can get a test done as u can get rossriver virus from mosquito's and it can make u very sick.
You can get Malaria and West Nile Virus from mosquitos.
I believe so. My youngest daughter had encephalitis many years ago. Docs said it could have been from a mosquito or many other things.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR!!!!!!!!...
Yes. In theory, any blood borne pathogen could be transmitted by a mosquito. It is unlikely that some diseases, such as HIV, could be trasmitted in this manner because they have an extremely short lifespan once they are outside of their human host. However, the type of virus that could cause viral encephalitis, can be tramitted via a mosquito.
THEORETICALLY, you could catch a disease from mosquito bites, but it's extremely rare (think "getting hit by lightning" rare). I think a lot of your determination should lie in how soon after getting bit you became ill. Here's a little more info for you:

n the summer months and into fall, residents of Pennsylvania can contract two potentially fatal diseases from mosquito bites. They are Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) and West Nile Virus (WNV). Fatality rates are 40% for EEE and 15% for WNV. Onset is acute with headache, fever, altered mental status, delirium, coma, and death. There is no treatment for the disease. Horses are also affected; however, a vaccine is available for both diseases for equines.

Prevention at the personal level is the key to not acquiring a mosquito borne disease both here and in any area. Most of the mosquitoes that transmit encephalitis (not all mosquitoes transmit diseases of any type) feed primarily at dusk and at dawn.

Although it's a very rare chance, it never hurts to see your doctor. At least then you're covered either way. Good luck!
You can get West Nile Virus.
Yes you can. Besides the west nile virus, you can contract parasites. Gross huh?! I hate mosquito's! LOL. I would defiantly go to the doctor if your sickness continues or gets worse. You may just have the stomach flu or something you ate may have not agreed with your stomach. Good luck =) Hope you feel better
Given your location, malaria is very unlikely but not totally impossible. I'd be a lot more concerned about the possibility of West Nile Virus; there haven't been reported cases yet this year in your area, but the risk of an outbreak is high.
