Why does Dr.House get all the neato, rare complications?

Question:
Every single case seems to be the rarest thing ever..don't they ever get routine coughs, headaches, maybe even the flu?
I think House is hogging all the good diseases!

Answers:
He is the "Director of Diagnostic Medicine" at the hospital he works at. He and his team only get the cases that other doctors don't have the knowledge or time to deal with. It would be a total waste of time and money to send cases to his department such as flu, chickenpox or the mumps.

But if you watch the show, his boss, Dr. Cutty still wants him to pull a shift in the walk-in clinic once in a while where he sees cases like the flu, or VD, stuff like that...and House hates that with a passion - that's how the trouble with the cop got started last year - left him in the examination room with a rectal thermometer inside of him!
But that's exactly what Dr. House does.. he solves medical mysteries. There's nothing mysterious about the flu.
and yes, he does get the routine cases too, since he's serving time in the ER as his punishment for making his boss look totally incompetent all the time...
Because he's Dr. House why else
I guess it's to make the show more interesting.
