What kind of bug bites are these on my son?

Question:
My 3.5yo son came home from school yesterday w/these bites all over him. Now mind you we live in AL and the mosquitos have been horrid. He was sprayed down w/ 15% DEET b4 school in the am. And usually I have him wear long cotton pants, but it has been over 100 outside..Yuk. These do not look like mosquito bites. His older 1/2 sister is deadly allergic to fire ants. this could be it?? or bed bugs? chiggers??

Answers:
That looks like an allergic dermatitis...
those look like ant bites that are inflammed.
its probbally something at night keep him awake for the night and maybe he migth see the bugs that bite him
Are you sure its not heat rash? If he scratches it, it can turn into welts like that. There are also viruses that can cause a rash like that to develop. My son had something similar and the pediatrician had him take claritin every day until it disappeared. Take him to a doctor - if nothing else, he can help your child get some relief.
It may not even be bug bites. It is possible it could be severe chicken pox or something similar. Have him checked out by a doctor.
Take this child to the doctor now... These look like chiggers and a bit of an allergic reaction.
Looks like a heat rash, and considering its been over 100 lately, you may want to take that into consideration.
To begin with you have already mentioned that you have sprayed him with an insect repellant. I have looked at your pictures. These don't really look like insect bites but an allergic reaction to something he came into contact with. Suggestion, give a dose of Benedryle and have a doctor take a look. It is possible it is something simple. It is still possible that they could be just a case of chiggers since those little buggers are tough. I have seen them climb pants and long sleeve shirts.
looks like heat rash to me
Of course I agree that if you are able take him to a doctor but if that is not possible at the moment then try some benedryl. If that helps then no matter what bit him it will be an allergic reaction and that will help relieve any itching he may have. Do you think this happened at school? If so then make sure you ask them where he was and what he did all day and see if they will check for any bugs in the areas where he had been. If you think it was from your home then be sure to wash all your bedding with a little bleach and hot water spray down your mattresses and rugs with a good spray and make sure if you have any areas in the home the bugs can get through, block them and spray in those areas too. Good luck and I hope he gets better real soon.
take him to the docter
The source below discusses different insect bites. Perhaps it will help.
