Anyone with a penicillin alergy?

Question:
I Have a severe allergic reaction to any form of penicillin. What would it do to me?Anyone out there allergic?

Answers:
I am allergic. I get cold sweats, nausea and vomiting, really low blood pressure, I have trouble breathing, my lips turn blue and my tongue and throat start to swell. When I was in labour with my son, they gave me penicillin even after I told them I was allergic. I was so sick vomiting every day. I had a major rash and was getting yelled at by the midwives because I couldn't feed my baby. I was chucking so bad, I couldn't hold bub but they said it was not a good enough excuse, so I sued them.
If you have a severe reaction, how do you know?

Usually anybody who has an penecillin allergy is also allergic to anything with sulfa in it.

Some cases rash all over your body, itching, and grogginess. For others a lot more dangerous, including death.
For me it started when I was a child and I broke out with hives. Reactions will continue to get worse and can be fatal if you continued ingesting penicillin. My mother for instance was allergic to shellfish and didn't know. It started with vomiting a few hours later and she thought it was food poisoning (she didn't eat it all that often). After she found out what it was she still had exposure to it through no fault of her own...in foods cooked in the same oil as shell fish etc. and then it started with her pulse speeding up and having to rush her to the ER. Eventually you could go into Anaphylactic Shock and die.
ummm... if you already know you would have a severe allergic reaction to it... then most likely you would DIE... just a guess!! haha
Yes i am. you would probably get short of breath.
My dad is allergic to penicillin... and it's cousin, amoxicilin... and yeast, and mushrooms and strawberries and bananas, and watermelons and grass/tree pollens, and...
My daughter is allergic to penicillin.we found out when she was an infant after an ear infection and boom she broke out into hives all over her body..at 1st we thought it was chicken pox...later the doctor told us she was allergic to the drug...he also told me that future exposure to the drug could cause her death..so I have always been careful..I recommend you have a bracelet (or dog tag) made advising emergency crew of that fact so as to avoid problems in case of an accident...she is now 18 and even though the doctor also advised us that it was something she could grow out of, I have never taken a chance..remember there are other alternatives (although not as quick but all in the same effective)...one that always works well for my daughter is Omnicef...In the future have yourself tested prior to taking penicillin, you really do not want to play with your health (or life) like that...Best of luck to you..
