Should I stop taking my antibiotics?

I am taking an Augmentin 875 mg generic twice a day. I've taken it for a good 2 days and then all of a sudden I get really bad diarrhea. It's the weekend so I can't get in touch with my doctor until Monday (which I will do first thing). My question is if I can possibly skip the next 3-4 doses until I get in contact with my doctor? I'm a little worried about resistance. I just need to hold off a day or two. I'm also taking acidophilus pills.

Diarrhea is a side effect of almost any antibiotic. You should call your Dr., I'm pretty sure they will tell you to continue the med. Your Dr. will know best.

You do not mention why you are taking Augmentin. If you are taking it for a strep infection (strep throat), you should contact the physician's office (most offices have on-call or emergency numbers) and report your diarrhea; be sure to tell them how long you have had the diarrhea. Diarrhea may be dangerous as it can result in an electrolyte imbalance.

Regarding acidophilus, you should take Augmentin at least 2 hours before or after your acidophilus pills; Augmentin may kill the acidophilus.
