You would need a biopsy to tell for sure, but it could be cancer or a cyst. It's hard to say though just based on this little bit of information.

A mass in the kidney could be many things. Yes, maybe a tumor, maybe a cyst . the only way to really find out, is to have the tests done.

It may be cancer. It needs to be followed aggressively to find what it is. Kidney cancer if treated early has a cure rate greater than 95%. If not found until after it has started to spread the average survival is about a one year (New medicines are extending that a little but no cure exists)
