What should I know about this type of cancer?
Question:
Answers:
Which type of Lymphoid malignancy does he have and what is the stage of the disease?
You can check out a few websites that might help you:
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
http://www.leukemia-lymphoma.org/...
Lymphomation
http://www.lymphomation.org/
Medline Plus: Lymphoma
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/lymph...
Hope you find something useful. Best to you.
Check out the website for the National Cancer Institute - they are trialing a new medicine for lymphoid cancer and your friend may be eligible for this treatment.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend - I'm sure you will be there to support him. His kidney failure will be very tough on his body and mind - the treatment can be very uncomfortable. Ask him if you can stay with him during his treatments - they can be very long and boring - he might like the company.
Sepsis can be hard to treat - he'll be on lots of antibiotics for awhile.
Do what you can to help him be comfortable - and let him know that you love him. Listen to him when he talks about whatever he wants to talk about - if he wants to talk about death then just listen to him - don't try to shush him up - just listen. A sympathetic set of ears can sometimes be the best thing...
Good luck and best wishes to you both.
You say Lymphoma + Sepsis + Renal failure ,unfortunately these are ominous triad! , I think the survival is about 0 to 5% , I'm sorry for writing that ! .
You must declare following items for further instructions :
1 - How old is he ? ( bad more than 60 )
2 - What kind of lymphoma he has ? ( Burkit type is the worst )
3 - Chronic renal failure or acute reanl failure ? ( Acute is a disaster )
4 - Was Sepsis occures after chemotherapy or not ? (After chemotherapy is more managable )
5 - Does he have any other coincident illness such as diabetes mellitus or . . . ? ( Diabetes and . . . make his prognosis poorer )
God bless all the patients .
