you have to go to your GP. He will give you a course of tablets, but you need to take them for 3 months.
But even then they may not be completley fixed.
I have the same problem...
If its been going on for that long it may be past the over the counter cures.. maybe its time for the doctor to prescribe something a bit stronger.
I have read in the People's Pharmacy newspaper column to soak your feet daily in vinegar water and it will clear it up--I am guessing a month or two of daily soaks
well there is a couple of things you can do. Start off with the spray if it is not bad. Oh...looking at your question it is bad. O.K., you may want to consider a podiatrist first. He may need to treat it with strong meds that may mess with your liver. But if that is something you do not want or already have a pre-exsisting problem with your liver go to the pharmacy. Ask the pharmacist for a foot fungle medication. I can not remember the name oh maybe lamisil or thats the pill. I don't know just ask the pharmacist because they keep it behind the counter usually, and it looks like nail polish. Get an emery board preferably one that girls use with the diffrent sides. Cut it as short as possible, buff it down, and try to clean it out. Then apply the polish over the toe. Keep it as clean as possible. Try not to get it try. If you sweat alot wrap it up before wearing sneakers. Two of the best natured cures for foot fungus is the ocean (salt water) and as much sun as possible!
Wear cotton socks and change daily. Use foot powder in shoes daily. Keep nails clipped short. Wear shoes with plenty of room.
very simple solution, after showering or taking off your socks and shoes for the day, take cotton ball, soak it with alchohol and saturate the toe that is effected- I have had my thumb turn green under the nail from moisture (always have my hands in water or cleansers) the only thing that works and helps take away the discoloration and fungus is alchohol. Do this at least 2 times a day for faster clearing. or you can actually soak the toe in alchohol in an old small dish or go to the dollar store and buy a shallow candy dish or bowl to use-
Try it, I guarantee the alchohol will clear it up.
I had the same problem, tried for 2 years to treat it myself, with creams and sprays nothing worked.
I ended up having the nail removed, a course of anti-bio tics, brilliant, solved my problem, my nail has grown back perfectly normal. get along to your G.P without further delay. Good luck.
Lamasil tablets will cure fungi nail and are extremely expensive.$800.00 or more.
There are 2 good treatments available at present. Loceryl Lacquer, which is applied topically twice a week and Lamasil tablets. Both available via your GP. Treatment is however prolonged, taking a year or more.
I have had it for a number of years too.
I apply white vinegar - 80p from the supermarket, mixed 50/50 with hydrogen peroxide (3%) - 98p from the chemist. After that I apply vaporub. I do this every morning and every night. Soaking them in vinegar and water will help alot too.
I started this treatment in February. I now have nails that are nail shape, not crusty, not sore and from head height looking down they look pink - pink enough to wear toe-post sandals.
I have tried - loceryl - works well but GP wouldn't let me use it for longer than 12 months and by then it had not completely gone.
Its an absolute b'gger trying to get rid of fungus - good luck.
