Blood sugar of 124, do one needs to be treated with pills?

is this a fasting blood sugar? if so, you would first want to start with diet and exercise and then get it rechecked in 3mos. if its a random sugar (ie...taken just at any point during the day, after or before eating)...its an ok number. if a fasting blood sugar is higher than 110...its diagnostic of pre-diabetes. higher than 126 is diabetes and if you're a type II diabetic, then you would start with oral medications.
This is not really very high but is it going higher at times? And is that a fasting blood sugar or have you eaten? I would listen to my doctors advice if you trust him/her and if you don't seek a second opinion.
Your blood sugar is not above normal. If it goes above 130 after meal consistently (it's still not above normal), check with your family doctor. Test the sugar level one hour after you eat and see what it is.
