Hi honey, I'm a practice nurse in Coventry. All you need to do is call your GP surgery and ask for an appointment with the nurse. Now depending on the receptionist, they may ask if you can say what it's for (we nurses like to be prepared) but you absolutely do not have to give the receptionist this info, just tell them you'd rather not say, thankyou! Once you're in with the nurse you can get checked out in confidence, and hopefully all will be fine ;). Alternatively you can look up the phone number for your local GUM clinic in the yellow pages. But I find these places a bit impersonal, because everyone knows why you're in the waiting room, whereas at your GPs they don't.
