Hi, When you get a sunburn, you can soothe it temporarily with aloe vera, but really you can not do much about the feeling of the burn. Also by putting sunscreen on, it does not nessicarily mean it was old, it may mean you did not have enough on, or reaply it enough. If you go in the water, even if it says waterproof, you have to reaply when you get out, if you do not go in water, you should reaply every two hours, If you do not go in the sun much even more important. It also depends on what SPF you used. If you used 15 or under you need to apply more often than a 30 or above. I am medium olive skin, and tan easily, and tan through 30 SPF, and still have to reaply often. and a lot to my face so I dont wrinkle.
Usually the burn of a sunburn can last from 3 days to a week. If you blister it depends on how bad, but a bit longer. You will likely peel. Sunscreen is great but you should be using about 2-3 ounces for the entire body rubbed in very well, 15-20 minutes before even entwering the sun, for it to be effective.
just keep applying the aloe. or go buy some after sun care at your local drug store.
Good Luck
Loads of aloe, And avoid the sun.
Take Advil for the pain.
Try Soothacaine or anything with "caine" in the name. It temporarilly numbs the skin and helps with sunburn pain.
