Question:
my father has been here in the usa for 25 years and has diabetes, obviously he cannot get insurance because he wasnt born here on usa but he has diabetes really bad and serious, does anyine know how i can help him get medicine? some type of program maybe? or how much does the top diabetes medicines cost? i would appreciate any kind of help.

Answers:
wait! he can't get insurance cause he wasn't born here? nope! sorry, but insurance companies will insure anyone who pays them! sounds like he's here illegally if he can't get insurance, but that ain't my business at all! all meds in the U.S.A. cost a whole heluva lot of money, cause U.S. citizens pay for all the testing done on all meds for the world! we pay the high prices so people in Canada, etc. can get meds at bargain basement prices! maybe y'all should go to a country that has socialized medicine where treatment could be more affordable! sorry for y'alls' troubles but the grass ain't always greener! but maybe y'all could hit the net and look for drug studies on diabetes, sometimes they pay you! best wishes and good luck!
my mom sells insurance if that helps!! hope your dad is ok i would pray for him if i were you!!
I didn't know you could be denied insurance because you weren't born in the US. Are you sure about this? Have you checked with all insurance companies? Try looking into your state health system, like Medicaid and Medicare, if his diabetes is bad enough I really don't think they can refuse him. If he is a citizen of this country then they have to at least evaluate his case and not deny him soley because he wasn't born in this country.
He can get insurance, it doesn't matter that he wasn't born in the US. Neither of my husband's grandparents were born in the US and they both have Blue Cross Blue Shield. I'd have your father look into it, or you do it for him because whoever told you he couldn't be insured was lying through their teeth.
If your going to attempt treatment yourself you'll need a thorough education. The source I provided below holds the most information available on the different types of medication and on different Types of diabetes. You'll need to determine what type your father is afflicted with in order to properly treat him. His diet is crucial to his survival so encourage him to maintain that. Lastley I would say to appeal to a local doctor for some sort of treatment. Insurance is not required to receive treatment. If it comes down to it most hospitals cannot refuse treatment in an emergency situation and it is doubtful he will face deportation over a medical emergency.(Although it may put him on the radar so to speak)
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
He should be able to get insurance if he has money to pay for it. You can also get insulin and yes even syringes without insurance or a prescription. The prescription is for the insurance to pay. I know, because I did it for a couple of years when I had no insurance. Could not afford the doctors visit let alone the insurance. I assume he already has a dosage regiment. I would not recommend self doctoring unless you know what you are doing.
