I have a small, painful, hard bump on the outside of my ear... Help?

Question:
Someone said it was a hematite or hematote or something like that from a bug bite, and that if it doesn't get better in a few says, I should go to the doctor to get it lanced.. They also told me to use hot compresses, and it may get better.

it hurt sometimes without touching it, and always when touching it.

Is there a way to make them go away soon, and does this sound like a hema-whatever?

Answers:
Hematite is a mineral, so it's not that. Sounds like it could be a bug bite, or maybe even just a cyst. Either way, it's inflamed. Try taking an antihistamine like Benadryl (will make you tired) or some ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, etc.) to reduce the inflammation. If it's inflamed again after the meds wear off, check with your doctor. I had an inflamed cyst on my earlobe once that was driving me crazy, and my doctor prescribed a mild antibiotic, it was gone in a few days.
its just a pimple in your ear. I get them all the time
Don't worry about it, its probably just a cancerous tumor
it sounds like a pimple on the inside of the skin, it will go away if you just leave it alone and it might also get a white head on the end of it.
Probably a pimple, cyst (cystic acne) or inflamed/ingrown hair root. Try putting warm compresses on it to reduce the inflammation and help open the pore. Take Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) for pain. It will probably get larger and more painful before it finally ruptures in a couple of days. When it does rupture, the pain will stop almost immediately. Clean it with rubbing alcohol, and put some antibiotic ointment on it. It should then go away completely in about 24 hrs. If you still have it and it still hurts as bad 3 days from now, go see your doctor. If you see the redness expanding out from it or see red streaks on the skin around it between now and then, go ahead and go to the doc.
Sounds jsut like a bugbite. Spider bite actually...i usually get things like that on my back when i get bit by a spider...
