Ways to relieve nausea?
Question:
I ate always being nauseous and thinking that i'm gonna throw up.
Tums or pepto bismol dont work either.
Answers:
Acid indigestion may be a sign of GERD, or gastroesophageal reflux disease. You may also need to be evaluated for ulcers, which are caused not by stress but by bacterial infection (H.pylori).
GERD occurs when your lower esophageal sphincter does not close properly, forcing acids from your stomach into your esophagus. The esophagus becomes inflamed, erodes, and may spasm. An eroded esophagus may lead eventually to esophageal cancer. You do not have to feel pain for this to be occurring. Read about GERD at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/gerd/ds...
H. pylori causes stomach ulcers and therefore nausea. It can be mistaken for acid indigestion. Obviously if you have this condition, antacids will not help. Read about it at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/h-pylor...
Regarding antacid medications, it may take up to 3 weeks for some of them to provide relief. If you have esophageal damage, it may take up to 8 weeks.
Pepcid is a histamine-2 receptor blocker; read about how it works at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/drug-in...
Another medication to consider is a proton pump inhibitor; read about these at http://www.medicinenet.com/proton-pump_i... I have taken proton pump inhibitors for acid reflux with considerable success.
I know I am giving you a lot of links and a lot of information. I am certainly not saying you've been misdiagnosed. Physicians tend to start treatment conservatively, then move onto more aggressive treatment if the conservative treatment doesn't work.
But you are mentioning constant nausea, you may want to discuss the two above possibilities with your physician and ask what testing can be done.
Maalox worked for me.
wow i feel bad for you----------->try this get an aspirin and get a peace of tape and put the aspirin in your belly button and tape it there keep it there till you think you feel better try it ,it worked for me : )
Hope you feel better ; )
Sprite for the tummy. It has always worked on me.
I constantly get nauseous - dramamine will end it within ten to twenty minutes. If you do go this route, make sure you get the non-drowsy version.
I also sip ginger tea. Some stores sell it as ginger-lemon tea, and that's good, too.
Sounds like your doctor didn't listen very well. I would make another appointment and explain that nothing is helping. Nausea can come from so many sources, mild to serious. An upper G.I. xray can help see what's going on.. did your doctor do any tests? Go back and get checked more thoroughly. In the meantime, eat like a pregnant woman!! Six small meals throughout the day, plenty of fluids and some form of exercise (a simple walk can aid digestion). You can make yourself some warm tea with fresh ginger or peppermint. Also try doing an online search for nauseau home remedies that can help keep your stomach settled until you are able to see the good doctor again. Best wishes.
Some good "home" remedies: raw potato (eating some of this really helps, believe it or not)...
Peppermint candies- peppermint is soothing to the tummy..
Baking soda..- a little of this in a glass of water..drink it down and it actually helps reduce stomach acid. (there are directions on the box of Arm and Hammer for this)...
My husband, who has GERD and a hiatal hernia, swears by the above three...he takes Nexium...but the home remedies seem to work as well.
marijuana
how about rolaids i dont no pepto always works for me
