Im scared, please help.?

Question:
Im 21 years old, and have always been pretty healthy, but early this year got a bad case of mono and it seems like Ive been sick ever since. After a few months of still feeling tired, having body pain and swollen glands I went to my doctor to find out what might be causing it. He was concerned about my weight and thought that I might be malnourished, so he did blood work. I got a call back from the doctors office saying that I have high blood calcium levels and that I have to go back and have more blood work done. I am scared, what does it mean to have high blood calcium levels, can that be the cause of my symptoms?

Answers:
I have never heard of complications caused by high blood calcium levels. Meaning I have not every heard anyone talking about that from a blood test. I am sure if it was serious the doctor would have had you come in right away.

Here is a site I found to discuss high blood calcium levels. It is very straight forward and tells you not to be alarmed that you have cancer. High blood calcium can be caused by many things. It should be treated so keep your doctors appointment and get on the road to recovery now.

I do hope that everything turns out o.k. Good luck and God Bless!

u dont sound healthy, so i dont know what your talking about being pertty healthy.
Nothing to be terribly alarmed about, but does need follow up. Simple changes in certain food intakes should help you out and clear up your problem. No need to be scared. Let the Dr tell you what the parameters of high blood calcium is as related to your other blood work. This is not something that cannot be taken care of . No need to be worrying about it unnecessarily.
Please don't be too scared...high calcium levels are usually caused by thyroid problems, which are treatable. Perhaps you should call his office and speak with his nurse, he or she can help to alleviate your fears...take care.
i cant tell you what high blood calcium levels can do to you, but im sure that your doctor has it or will have it under control. just relax and dont stress yourself over what may be nothing at all.
Yes it could be, magnesium dissolves calcium in the blood.
I came down with a very severe case of mono when I was 18, and it took me about 5-6 months to really recover. I remember feeling tired and just yucky for days at a time, even though I wasn't really 'sick' anymore. My doctor hasn't said anything about my blood calcium, but diagnosed me with anemia (low blood iron), which is the cause of my lethargy. I'm able to keep it in check most of the time by eating right and taking supplements. You might also want to ask your doctor for a referral to a nutritionist, since he thinks you may be malnourished.

Take care, I hope you feel better!
