I was recently diagnosed with genital herpes?

Question:
The guy who I got it from says he doesn't have it but, I know that I got it from him. I believe the reason he says he doesn't have it is because he doesn't have genital herpes. Which makes sense because I actually think that I got it from a cold sore (I didn't know that that's what it was at the time) that was on his face when he performed oral sex on me. Is it possible to determine that I got it from him if I have genital herpes and he only has regular herpes? I'm being totally serious. He's basically tried to make me seem like a tramp because I have it, but I know that I got it from him.

Answers:
It's possible to have genital herpes and not have any symptoms. It's also possible to pass it on without having any symptoms.

In all likelihood, your guy got it, doesn't know it, and gave it to you. If he were responsible, he would get tested so he could warn future partners of his condition.
Most times men are carriers and do not show signs of the herpes disease. So he very well could have given it to you, and yes you CAN spread it through oral and vaginal sex.
I am really sorry. I know i cant imagine how you feel. But i would so beat his ***! Seriously. He knows he has it, hes just too immature to admit it.
maybe he has just never broke out enough to know he has it.or he was ashamed so shifted the pain on you.hope you will be kinder than him and tell others if you have sex.use condoms too.
I'm really sorry to hear this but this is why God commands against sex outside of marriage. This incident will affect the rest of your life. Was it worth that? PPL beware!
You can NOT get 'genital herpes' from 'regular herpes' ... but that doesn't mean the guy you think gave it to you doesn't have 'genital herpes' ... you can get a cold sore from ANY HERPES VIRUS, and if it was 'genital' and he performed oral sex on you, that is where you got it. He could be 'denying' having genital herpes because he feels 'embarrassed' but you should tell him that he HAS TO GET AN STD TEST to BE SURE he doesn't have it. Smile and say 'maybe I gave it to you' and then just walk away. You don't have to be a 'tramp' to get an STD ... but I do hope that now that you have the disease you 'take care of it' and don't help 'spread it around' ... tell your partners and USE A CONDOM OR DENTAL DAM until you are ready to get married and have a child ... and then still 'be totally honest' with your partner.
Your latest lover may not be the one who gave you herpes. Sometimes it can lie dormant in the nervous system for months or even years before the first outbreak. Yes it is possible to spread herpes from cold sores (herpes simplex) to genital herpes..It can actually change. One type above the waist and one below. It can be an above the waist herpes and then through oral sex spread and become the below the waist variety. Sounds strange but true.
Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV1) is the common cause of cold sores (oral herpes) around the mouth. HSV2 normally causes genital herpes. However, through sexual activity, HSV1 can cause infections in the genital area, and HSV2 can infect the mouth area.
Genital Herpes can be caused by either the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) or the herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). HSV-1 or HSV-2 can cause both sores on the lips (cold sores) and sores on the genitals. HSV-1 more often causes cold sores, while HSV-2 more often causes genital sores. HSV-1 causes about 30% of primary genital herpes infections. Infections caused by HSV-1 have a lower rate of recurrence than those caused by HSV-2. 1

How the herpes virus is spread

Since the same virus that causes genital herpes also causes cold sores (herpes labialis), HSV can be spread from a genital sore to the lips or from a cold sore to the genital area. HSV can be spread to or from the genitals, anus, or mouth during sexual activities or through any direct contact with herpes sores. You become infected when the virus enters your body through a break in the skin or through moist areas (mucous membranes) such as the mouth, anus, and vagina. Even very small breaks in the skin allow the virus to infect the body.

Newborns can be infected with HSV at birth. This usually happens when a woman has her primary outbreak close to the time of delivery and the baby is delivered through the vagina. Usually, in these cases, the woman either does not have symptoms or is unaware of symptoms. The chance of passing the virus to the baby is greatly reduced during recurrent outbreaks (less than 1% of the time). 1 Babies infected with the virus at birth are at risk for serious health problems.

Contagious period

You are most likely to spread HSV when you have a sore or blister during either a primary or recurrent outbreak. However, many people with genital herpes who have frequent recurrent outbreaks may also have time periods (a week before and a week after an outbreak) when they can spread the virus even though they do not have blisters or sores present. Some people can spread the infection when they do not recognize that they have a genital herpes sore or when they have symptoms (such as painful urination) that are not typical of genital herpes.

you can get one from the other as this article shows to read more and answer any questions you have go to the link provided below
Ok first of all, having an actual cold sore and having herpes on your genitals are two different things. If you can't figure out this question yourself, you are obviously too young to be having sex.
mustbeme, most ppl deny being the source of a problem, so if he doesn't own up don't sweat it, he will not admit it! and worst yet, he thinks he doesn't have it, what an alpha jerk, he probably is so clueless that he doesn't know that you can have it without showing symptoms,

but I must warn you to be tested for everything, a punk like him wont admit to any other STD he may have either. Get tested don't worry about him and no, there really is no way to find out if he was the culprit as you do not have access to his medical records that will include if any Arv's were prescribed to him.

But here in T.O. this girl took a raptors player to court for giving her herpes and she won, so maybe if you really want to pursue it, take him to court!
yes it is, he is jus sayin that b/c he prolly didn't show signs of having it and wants to believe "std's can't happen to me"

you aren't a tramp, he is jus bein closed minded b/c he doesn't want to except the fact of ever having anything b/c he wasn't responsible enough to go get tested regularly like supposed to

keep encouraging him to get tested plzzzzz
Probably you got it from him. I know a guy who ate out his girlfriend and got those blisters in his throat so bad he couldn't swallow for 3 days. The first outbreaks are the worst but they get less and less...

Sorry about the bad news. Too late for you but if I was a woman: don't tell people you have herpes. Better to suffer in silence...
Herpes is such a difficult thing to determine where it came from. People can carry the virus in their bodies for years without any symptoms. Even blood tests are not 100% accurate to test for the herpes virus. It must be done close to 3 months after exposure to detect the antibodies in the blood. A lot of people make the mistake by rushing out to get a blood test and it is too early. So they get a false-negative. Herpes hides in the spinal column and is difficult to detect if it is not active.
It is very probable that you were given it thru oral sex. It is the same virus, though on a different location. The last thing I would worry about is his stupidness. He obviously is not educated on it so he really doesn't know what he is talking about.
If you keep obsessing about who gave it to you, it is going to drive you crazy! The fact is that you will never really know for sure who gave it to you. But does it matter? You now have it so you need to get past the blaming and learn how to live with it! Don't pay attention to the negative people trying to get you down. Soon their blood tests will come up positive too!
Well, if he had a cold sore on his lip and performed oral sex on you he most likely gave it to you.

It is possible to get genital herpes on your mouth and it is possible to get oral herpes on your genitals.

If you really wanted to be certain, you could get tested for Herpes 1 and 2. Herpes Simplex 1 generally effects the mouth, while Herpes Simplex 2 generally effects the genitals.
