Can being in a coma cause your heart to stop?

Question:
Someone said that they'd been in a coma and then a day or two later said that their heart stopped and called it some kind of transition. I don't believe this,so, anyone know for a fact if it's true or false?

Answers:
The part that determines the automatic function of your heart is called your brain stem. This is kind of at the base of your skull high up on your neck. If you have a head injury and your brain pressure rises too much this area can get squashed and forced out through the only hole in your skull and thus cause damage to the area which makes your heart beat. This is called coning.

Depending on the cause of the 'coma' there would be a variety of reasons why your heart might stop.
The coma itself wont cause your heart to stop unless coning occurred.

Cardiac Arrest may be caused by so many other things it is hard to mention them all
if the heart stops then he/she is dead... yeah, i guess that would qualify for a transition to the grave!!
