The gave my 4 month old a antibiotic shot for the bacterial infection?

Question:
his fever has went down since the shot but the soft spot at the top of his head is still swollen he is back to being active, can other symptoms occur later.

Answers:
I don't see anything sinister about the treatment. Bacterial infections are handled with antibiotics and a shot is the fastest way as liquid or pill form would take 48 hours or more to begin working. Any type of oral meds are not desirable for an infant because they may not stay down long enough to be dissolved or absorbed. His swelling will go down as soon as the infection is resolved, and no other symptoms should arise, if they do call the doctor, but they should not, be patient.
You should be talking with your pediatrician. Just call there and they wont charge you for a question over the phone.
Sounds like the antibiotic is working. Just follow your doctors orders and the child should be fine. The swelling should resolve within a day or two, there should be no other symptoms.
Well, he is improving since he is back to being active. The swelling should go down within the next several days.Is he drinking enough fluids and does he have a fever?? But, I would advise you to call the Doc and speak with the Nurse. She can advise you about any questions or concerns that you have. Since he is so young, I think is the best avenue for your answer. I hope this helps and I'm glad that he is feeling better.
