Is there ANY evidence that secondhand smoke kills?
Question:
I don't want your personal opinion if you don't know what you're talking about, I want links to studies done, etc. Thanks.
Answers:
Well, common sense tells you it won't do you any good. As far as harm done, you will have a hell of a time getting the truth. All the studies on it have been biased one way or the other to meet the agendas of the funding agency. When you find a study, see who funded it while you decide if it's believable.
I'm 51. Both my parents smoked like chimneys. I never had a problem, despite the fact that I've smoked myself for 34 years. Secondhand smoke should be avoided like any other kind of smoke, car exhaust, chemicals, etc. So don't come to my house.
im in the same situation. they have done studies and yes.
so your parents breath in the smoke, and breath it out. all the waste that was in the air of there bodies before is now in the smoke that you are now breathing. so yes. its more dangerous than smoking.
Don't know about reports
However, consider these aoccurances that I know of
1) my grandparents (dad's parents) both smoked. one of my dad's brothers died of Long QT Syndrome (a heart problem) when he was only 10. He had never smoked. When the did the autopsy... and it is noted on the death report that this level of lung damage was as if this child had been smoking for 20 years. and the damage that they were refering to was the build-up & dead cillia, etc... that occur with smoke inhalation.
2) my sister smokes, not even constantly... her dog of 12 years developed lung problems.. and died from this.. cause of death stated as SECOND HAND SMOKE.. also her 3 year old has severe asthma and lung function tests and lung exrays showed problems with second hand smoke.. yet at the same time, her 5 year old is fine.. clear lungs
So.......... 1 death and 1 urgent medical situatoin of children of smokers, direcly linked to the parent's smoking
and 1 animal death due to second hand smoke fromowner
Me too. Second hand smoke has killed non smokers, but they also found out smoking prevents parkisans disease.
