Does benign mean it's a tumour?

Question:
HI have some enlarged lymph nodes in my neck they are sometimes tender. i got an ultrasound today and the notes said one of them has benign factors.
Does this mean it's a tumour or just a lump that will settle down.
I have had them for 10 months now and i am also getting soreness under my armpits but i can't fel any lumps, i have cold sweats and i get nauseous. Should i just ignore this and think it will settle down or should i keep on it.
I also found out i'm anemic and i keep getting really bad UTI's which the dr's are investigating too do you think they could be conected?
has anyone had simliar experiences or no anyone that has.
Thankyou in advance.

Answers:
Benign means that it is not cancerous or dangerous, basically not malignant. Just ask your doctor all the other questions. It really depends on the person and their symptoms. Each case is different.
A tumor is just a mass of tissue, it can be benign or malignant. Don't fret about the term - if they said it was benign, that's the most important part.
Please get a simple FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) done on one of the nodes immediately.
Anemia & repeated infections are not good signs and indicate some continuing disease process.
And by the way ultrasound examination can not differentiate between benign & malignant lesions.
You should also consult a physician for a thorough clinical examination to reach a diagnosis. Best of luck.
It can be a tumour just not a cancerous one - that's what benign means. Just keep your doctor fully informed of all your symptoms.
Benign is good it means you don't have. that is good and ifyou don't know what something means get used to taking the doctor they will tell you and they will explain if you ask them to. they assume you know what it means and its best not to be int he dark. you can learn alot if you ask.
