Will weight loss improve lymphedema?

GREETINGS, Pens, I'm Tina from Lymphland.com aka Lymphland International Support Group.

Yes weight loss can improve lymphedema if you are obese and depending where your lymphedema is. Usually lower limb lymphedema improves from weight loss because some of the major lymph nodes are located in the abdomen/groin area. Those nodes are in the crease of the leg are called the inguinals, and the iliac nodes are located on both sides of the bellybutton area. Any extra weight on them also puts more strain and pressure on the lymph nodes, especially when sitting, the crease of the leg is usually compressed.

The biggest things you can do to improve your condition is to be compliant and learn as much as you can about it. Being compliant means drinking lots of water, exercising when you are able to, skin brushing if indicated, compression garments, elevation at night, learning all you can about lymphedema, staying up to date with any new treatment modules, and going through the complete/complex decongestive therapy with a certified, qualified therapist.

If you are interested in being a part of a support network which helps with keeping up to date on treatments, and also chatting with others who have the condition, feel free to visit my webpage, the button to join my group is on the page as well.
I don't know, search google
yes i improved my lymphedema by weight loss
Yes, weight control is an important aspect of controlling lymphedema. The fat cells of people with lymphedema undergo morphological changes that make them larger than average and also acts like a magnet for the lymph (to put it simply).
Not that I know of.
Often weight loss AND lymphedema are symptoms of lymphoma. I know I had both.
