You should have wrapped yourself up long ago but then I guess that has crossed your mind already. You can get herpes anywhere on your body-even in your eyes. Since someone apparantly gave it to you and you now are beginning to realize just how serious the consequences are, I hope you realize that you have the responsibility of not passing it on to anyone else. Even if you are not in an outbreak stage, you can still pass it along. I believe you have to cover the infected area but your doctor should have explained all of that to you. Call your doctor and ask. Go online and get lots of information. I believe that it is a criminal act to knowingly pass infectious diseases along without mentioning the moral aspects. Better get some knowledge.

ur doc is definetly right.. but when u learn about condoms, they say its one of the best ways to keep away of HIV and all that.. it is.. but it doesnt say its 100% to keep you away.. since u have the virus.. its best to keep away from the source, and keep it away from any one right now, and get it cleaned up.. take up much anti-biotics... the infection you have right now isnt in the stage where you cud reverse it.. so ur pretty much infected with it.. but if you take the right anti-biotics, clear things up.. youll feel as if you never had herpes..
You'll have to tell whoever you have sex with that you have herpes and that it can be spread even with the use of a condom and can be spread even when you are not having an outbreak. Then let the guy decide what he wants to do. He may pass on the sex.
Let me just say that I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis.Your doctor is right- condoms are not effective protection when it comes to certain STDs. You do not have to wrap yourself in saran wrap. Make sure that you first tell a person that you are considering having sex with about it. I for protection against herpes and molluscum contagiosum, wear a thong during intercourse. You should consider that as an option. This way you can slide it to the side and he can still insert without it being in the way. He won't have contact with the part that gets the lesion, further minimizing his chance of contracting the disease. Taking anti-viral medicine will also help lessen the chances of you passing it on. That's a drag... but it's true. Herpes aren't just located in the vagina they can be located anywhere on the pubic area, as well as anus, some even have them on their thighs.
I would wait until I don't have a breakout before I have sex again, and then a condom will help but not totally eliminate the possibility of spreading it. Try acyclovir or better yet Valtrx (it's expensive though) and just try to keep your symptoms under control. The first breakout is generally the worst and then they slowly become less severe in time, BUT it doesn't go away.
They say it's easier if you date others with herpes.
Just wear a wet suit!! (joking... I know not funny at this point)
