Help - What advice to give?

A friend has recently met up with a very old friend and started dating him. Without the gory details, he had a cold sore, and she now has Herpes. He has now gone back to join his army unit in Iraq leaving her alone. She is worring that he may cheat on her when he is away, especially after some bizarre cell messages that were flying around while we were on a night out. She's worried he's given her herpes (which she's stuck with) and he's going to disappear - what can I say to her?

So is she more worried about the herpes, or him cheating? She can go and get treatment, but as for the cheating, I don't think they get that much opportunity in Iraq. She should try to keep in contact with the guy, but If she really loves him she should be more worried about him staying safe than cheating.

if he's gonna run around and cheat, she doesn't need him. however, since herpes is so highly contagious, she should tell him to get tested as well. treatment is important.

Tell her to get a prescription for Zovirax or Valtrax from her doctor. She'll have to take it for life. And tell he to she lose the guy.

Best advice, tell her to ask him, the only way to find the answer, go to the source. I know it is not much help, but that is the best was to find out. Anything you say may comfort her, but only for a short time, this way she will know from him what his plans are. As far as the herpes, a doctor and prescription will help. She will never get rid of them, but she will be able to control it a little better.

So he gave her oral sex and now she has HSV1 in her genital area..that right?? Umm...well, needs to get on an anti-viral medicine from a M.D. She'll have to inform any other guys she plans on sleeping with that she has it. She'll have to be careful when she gets pregnant to protect the baby although the chances of the baby getting it are slim.

The M.D. will probably have to do a blood test to confirm the herpes or actually see an outbreak to prescribe the medicine.

She should just move on with life and assume that she was just a fling for this guy. Maybe next time she'll wait to jump into bed with a guy. Many guys carry HPV and don't know it; it can lead to cancer,so be careful.
