Is Postural hyper tension fatal?

Question:
My friend was just diagnosed with it...and I am worried.
Also, will it ever go away?
What can she do to help it not occur?

Answers:
No, it is not fatal. My dad had the same thing. You need to be careful to stand with support for a minute or two before you try to walk or you may pass out. I know my dad would get out of the car and then lean on it until his BP came up enough that he was no longer dizzy. The main danger here is getting up too fast, passing out and hurting yourself. Just be careful.
It is not fatal, at least not directly. You can have an episode which can cause a further accident. There is medication which can be prescribed for this condition. I have had it for years and do not expect it to disappear.
