I'm scared here. Help me out?
Question:
How could I have contracted it? I thought it wasn't possible.
Are there any similar diseases that it could be?
How much treatment can I get as a minor without involving my parents or having available funds without them?
After I'm 18 in two months, will I have any options with the same requirements? I'm not sure when I'll have health insurance separate from my family.
I think I may have a tumor, but it isn't attached to the cervix. Could it still be cervical cancer?
Thanks!

I'm sorry but it is just not possible to diagnose your trouble on Answers. But if it will help set your mind at ease a little, what you describe doesn't sound like HPV, at least not the variation that causes external warts, because you are not describing warts. You may simply have an infection of some sort, which can be easily treated. It's not really a big deal, you just need to go see a gyn doctor and have an exam. Ideally you would simply tell your mom you think you have an infection and need to see one. Otherwise, you can try to find either a Planned Parenthood clinic or a local public health clinic, where you can be treated either free or based on a sliding scale based on income. At your age, it's highly unlikely you have cervical cancer. It is of course a possibility, as you own one, but statistically the odds are heavy in your favor of it not being that. The tiny little white bumps could be an accumulation of skin cells, or irritation from something like detergeant. If you get the shot for HPV and you actually have HPV it won't hurt anything, you just obviously wouldn't get any benefit from it preventing the disease. Before you get it though, you need to see a gyn and have everything checked out and properly diagnosed. I can't say about the insurance thing, it varies according to the policy and company as to your coverage. In some cases, as long as you are still in school or college full time, you can be covered by your parents policy. I urge you to seek your mother's help in this, there isn't any reason not to really. You are plenty old enough to simply get a vaginal infection, and it doesn't imply anything bad on your part. Your mom should already understand this, and I'm sure she would be willing to help you out. But regardless of what you choose to do, please just go see a gynecologist and get this treated. It's not likely anything major, nor anything to feel shame about, and will likely be very easily treated. Then you can relax and quit worrying yourself half to death with visions of cancer and the like.
If you havent had sex - you dont have an STD - those bumps on your labia could be glands. These are normal, the bump inside you, I really dont know cause Im not a doctor. Maybe you can try making an appointment with a gynecologist.
You sound pretty frightened and I hope you'll see a physician or phone and visit your local Planned Parenthood office for a correct diagnosis and advice : ) In the meantime, I've shared some information on HPV below that I think will answer you questions:
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common infection that causes abnormal growth of tissue on the skin of the body. There are more than 100 types of HPV, some of which cause common warts found on areas like hands and feet. However, over 30 types are usually sexually transmitted and are known as genital human papillomavirus. Genital HPV is the most common sexually transmitted virus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Don't worry, you can't get HPV if you're a virgin. :)
However, I recommend the HPV vaccine.
Why do you think all this?
You REALLY need to be talking to your doctor if you think it's this serious, a bunch of strangers on Yahoo aren't going to be able to help you, I'm afraid. :(
OK stop blowing things out of proportion here. Why would you think you have HPV? What kind of symptoms are you having? A discharge? Foul smell from down there? Cloudy urine? You most likely have a urinary tract infection. You need to see an OB/GYN for a check up and a pap test and you need to take a urine specimen to your regular doctor and get it tested for a UTI. An infection left untreated can cause all kinds of problems for you, some of which can be life threatening.
hpv is genital warts --- they are contracted through sexual contact.. the warts themselves will eventaully go away or you can get then removed --- but if you do have HPV you are at a higher risk to get cancer DOWN THE ROAD. You will have to be screened yearly by an ob.gym ( get regual PAP tests) and they will be able to detect and abnormal PRE cancerous cells and take the approriate action.. it is something to keep in mind but usually not something to freak over ---- see if there is a gealth clinic or teen clinic in your area --- look under health clinic or teen clinc in the white pages ---
IF you haven't had sexual contact then it could very well be a blocked follicle ---- i really don't think you have reason to panic!!! but you could still go to a clinic to be sure ---- the teen clinics allow you to go without parent knowing!!
IF you've never had sexual activity then this could be extremely servious.
SEE A DOCTOR.
Don't wait until you're 18, do it now under your parents' insurance. There's nothing to be embarrased about. You need checked.
You should go to plannedparenthood.org and look up the closest clinic to you. You can go there and it is completely confidential. Since you are under 18 they may charge you a reduced amount or it could even be free in some areas. I'm not sure exactly what treatment you would need because I am not familiar with the specifics of HPV. Personally, I think you should go through your regular family health insurance. You said you are a virgin so even if you do have HPV it's not your fault and it's nothing you should be ashamed of. And any gynecologist should be required by law to keep your medical info confidential and not tell your parents if instruct them not to. Same things goes for your insurance company. It's all part of the HIPPA privacy laws that were passed several years ago. I would go ahead and see a gynecologist, either through your insurance or at Planned Parenthood. It may just be something minor but the sooner you know what the problem is the sooner you can stop worrying about it. Good luck!
Sounds like you are uncomfortable with discussing this with your mom. First of all, do you have a school physical upcoming? If so, call the doctor's office before your visit and tell the nurse you would like to speak to the doctor alone (assuming your mom or dad would walk back to the visit room with you). The nurse will put a note on your chart and your doctor will more than likely politely ask your parent to excuse themself from the room so you can speak to the doctor privately. If that isn't a viable option, you can go to Planned Parenthood and have a female exam by a doctor who can examine you and address your concerns at that time. It does not cost a lot of money, if any, and would not involve health insurance. As far as transmission, the likelihood you have HPV is minimal, but as long as you're are concerned, you need to have it checked out. Lastly, if speaking to one of your parents is completely out of the question, then seek out the help of a friend's mom who you trust or the school nurse.
Please see your doctor! To self diagnoise is taking a huge chance, it could be something seriously or more likely something that can be cleared up with medication, pls make a appointment tomorrow...
You need to get to a clinic asap. This is nothing to mess around with...it may cause infertility in the future. If you are a virgin, you should tell. your parents about your symptoms (there is nothing to be ashamed of). But it does need to be checked as soon as you can!
If you are going to get treatment then you have to speak with a doctor. You don't necessarily have to go to your family doctor, you can go to the hospital or to a walk in clinic. The white bumps deffinitely sounds questionable, and the bump in your vagina sounds questionable as well. Either way, you'll need to see a doctor or you wont be able to do anything about it. If you live in canada you can go anywhere for free as long as you have your health card with you.
Im sure (100%) that you dont have a STD, talk to your parents, and go to the doctor.
