Do I or Don't I have HPV?
Question:
Answers:
Many types of HPV have no symptoms, though some cause visible genital warts that may be found in the vagina or urethra or on the cervix, vulva, penis, or anus.
Genital warts may resolve without treatment in immunocompetent patients but may persist and spread in patients with decreased cell-mediated immunity (eg, HIV infection).
Please see the web pages for more details on Genital warts, Imiquimod (generic name) Aldara (brand name) and Gardasil (HPV vaccine).
HPV can come and go. some young women can clear their infection. you definitely had it though, if you had warts. if your pap is normal, you dont need pap every six months. but, when you do go once a year ask specifically to be tested for hpv. if you are less than 30, they dont do it automatically because basically everyone has it so they only check for hpv if the pap is abnormal
HPV can cause abnormal pap smears. if you went to your dr for your repeat smear and it didnt show any abnormal cells than you dont have HPV. HPV will not go away with antibiotics...it is a virus not a bacteria. best bet keep up with your pap smears and practice safe sex.
Probably, you have genital herpes and genital warts.
