Severe acne problem?

Question:
i've been on proactiv almost a month now, and i am also on doryx , differn, citadel, and a soap my dermotologist prescribed. my acne has never been this bad, i have horrible flare ups! one day my skin will finally get semi better then wose the next day!! and it hurts alot. i only drink water, and sometimes hot tea. and i dont eat junk food and i exercise, and don't wear makeup(and if i do i wash it off imediaetely!) i am stressed out about my acne and it is only making it worse. i don't know what to do. it's really interfering with my life, i don't want to leave the house, and i know it sounds shallow but it's true.

Answers:
You are on the right track with the dermatologist. Let them know all the over the counter things that you are using including the pro activ. If the things they have prescribed aren't working, call and make another appointment to let them know so that they can get you on something else. The acne is probably going to get a bit worse before it gets better. But should clear shortly after that. Not leaving the house isn't because your shallow, it's because of your self esteem. Everyone feels that way. Even the models and stars in magazines, that's why they get to have all their photo's airbrushed so there isn't a blemish, there skin tone is evened out, their cheek bones are brought up, their arms are thinned out, they are given a tan, their teeth are whitened, their waist lines are trimmed, their shirts straightened, it's all an illusion.

Make the call to the dermatologist to get a new game plan. You can get this under control, and in a couple of months, you won't even remember this being a problem. With your make up, Clinique is a brand that is big on keeping your skin clear, if that's too high, then make sure all your products say non-comodogenic,. Which means that they won't clog your pores. That advice was given to me by a dermatologist friend.

Good Luck! I'm sure that you are seeing it much worse than anyone else right now.

Also, if you are about to start school and it's not gone yet. There are a couple of things you can do. One, concealer. Your best friend. You can also use a pancake foundation over top. A great concealer is out there by Cover Girl, there is also a wonderful concealer brush by Sonya at Target to smooth and blend. There is a pancake line that I can't remember who sells it. It's in a blue cylindar plastic that you twist up. Once you get it on your face you can use a sponge to blend it. I want to say it's Maxx Factor that makes it. Use a powder to set it. There is a lighter one I believe by Loreal, it's in a Compact size. The compact is grey, The sponge is in the compact. It's fabulous, and lighter than the blue cylinder. It's great stuff. Still use it with the concealer and powder.

You are going to look beautiful. No one will know, and when this little moment is over, you will have the best skin at school!!
you should ask your doctor to prescribe retina whcih has tretinoin in it. your case sounds a lot like mine. at first proactiv worked really well, but then it just got really bad. once i started using retin-a, even though it took a while, it improved my skin a lot because it encourages growth of collagen fibers and scars even form less.
I know how you feel cause I have the SAME problem... NOTHING WORKS! But I have found putting sea salt, or sea salt mixed with warm water helps ALOT! You also should get plenty of sleep.

Oh and the salt will REALLY dry up your face so when done useing the salt put honey on your face..

Try it! And I really hope it works! It might hurt a bit but bare the pain... The salt pulls out the crap inside!
Control the face oil.

Milk of magnesia is the cheapest and the best thing to control the oil and dry out the acne.
I use this stuff from Bath and Body Works. Its called Anti-Acne, its made by Patricia Wexler MD. It is amazing. It comes with a exfoliating cleanser, two different kinds of glyco peel (whatever that is, haha) a anti-aging serum and a oil-free hydrator. The starter kit is either 30 or 40 dollars. Its expensive, but its worth every penny of it! I seriously dont see how I could have ever lived without it! If you do not have a Bath and Body Works Store near you, you can order it online. Its worth a shot. And if you really like it, they have it in the regular sizes, but that gets even more expensive, but it lasts forever. Its a really great product. Hope everything works out for you!
Hi,

I suggest you to stay away from proactive since it contains Benzoyl Peroxide, which is a strong substance known to cause rashes, skin irritation and crusting.

Have you ever tried clearpore? if no then I would strongly recommend it. I got extremely positive results within weeks of using it. -> http://tinyurl.com/33azgx

I'm not saying I love it only because it worked for me. I do because it has worked for each and every person I've recommended it with excellent results. It tackles the acne problem from so many different angles that I bet it works for anybody. I'm even keen to think I'm not the only fan out there.
