This is my only new med and considering I am really sick and lethargic before I was woundering if it could be from the protonix. Tried taking at night the other day and could not sleep and was really grumpy/moody. Has anyone one else experienced this? thank kc

Answers:
I have had anxiety and insomnia when taking Protonix. I've been taking it for a few of weeks and recently my Dr. doubled my dose and now I have a rapid heartbeat, feel "on edge," and wake up much earlier than I want. It's like I can't rest even though I'm exhausted. So, yes, I think it is from the Protonix. You're not alone. Hang in there, kc.
protonix shouldnt cause these symptoms. protonix is a proton pump inhibitor... meaning it causes the stomach lining to produce less acid. the side effects are generally related to stomach issues... nause, diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting. most likely your symptoms are comming from something else... not the protonix. webmd has really good, complete information on most medicines and their common/less common side effects
