Yes. Even if you made it through childhood without chicken pox, you should get the vaccine. Getting the disease as an adult is much more severe & uncomfortable. In addition, the same virus that causes chicken pox is also responsible for causing shingles, which is very debilitating & painful.
you should definetly get the vaccine, if u do get chicken pox as an adult it can be severe. you are better off getting the vaccine.

that's because I think that you can still get chicken pox when you are an adult, even though you didn't get it as a child.

If you were vaccinated as a child and you have no plans to visit a country or area where chickenpox is still a viable disease then you should be okay. However, some diseases that were irradicated in the USA have made a comeback because of parents being lack in getting their children vaccinated and then being exposed to the disease from a foriegn source. There is growing evidence that as the USA population expands due to incoming groups of people who do not get vaccinated some disease are reimmerging as a threat to the general population. So I guess it is up to you and what your chances are of being exposed if you were never vaccinated. Also keep in mind that there are many parts of the world where American adults must be revaccinated in order to get a visa to visit.
I am having chicken pox now at the age of 37. I assure you it's not a nice experience. If you think you don't have any problem (ask you doctor, first, of course!), get your vaccination and avoid at least 10 days with fever, itching and pain everywhere. If I knew it before, I'd surely have myself vaccinated! Greetings from Italy!
