my question my doc said it's not cancer could someone explain this PATHOLOGY REPORT or have any input, also i do not have insurance can i get insurance husband and i both are are out of work and can't afford cobra premiums
Answers:
The pathology report indicates possible MALT lymphoma. Malt lymphoma is a form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) involving the mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT), frequently of the stomach. It is a cancer originating from B cells in the marginal zone of the MALT.
Gastric MALT lymphoma is frequently associated (72-98%) with chronic inflammation as a result of the presence of Helicobacter pylori.
The initial diagnosis is made by biopsy of suspicious lesions on esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD, upper endoscopy). Simultaneously tests for H pylori are also done to detect the presence of this microbe.
Since you did not get a definitive diagnosis of lymphoma, and
if the disease is limited to the stomach (which is assessed with computed tomography), then 70-80% of the time you will have a complete regression on treatment with antibiotic eradication of H. pylori. If the treatment is unsuccessful, you may need either radiotherapy, or surgery. Both modalities may be curative in localized disease.
In contrast, if the disease has spread or has been refractory on antibiotics, chemotherapy may need to be considered.
As far as your insurablility, this diagnosis would probably be listed as a pre-existing condition when being considered for coverage. Your best route would be to take the COBRA on yourself until this resolves itself. I know it is expensive, but having no insurance and trying to pay for all of this yourself will be much more expensive in the long run. Hopefully the antibiotics will cure the H Pylori. Good luck and I hope this answered your question.
helocobactor can sometimes have lymphocytes in the sample .This means all you have is inflammation and/or irritation of the lining of the esophagus.Take the meds. and get scoped again in a few months.
