aspartame makes you fatter??
Question:
I used to comsume aspartame(sugar twins) 50pages/day.
Recently, I have read a book and it clams that "artificial sweeteners boost insulin by fooling the body into reacting to them like sugar. The more unused insulin in your bloodstream, the more fat your body stores"
Is that true??
Will aspartame slow down my metabolism in some way?
Is it the reason why I can not lose that extra 15 ib?
p.s. I count calorie carefully, but it seems like I can not lose weight at all....
In the past, I used aspartame to control my weight, but I did not gain any single Ib...
However, after gained that extra 15 ib....(due to bad eating habits)
I have difficulty to lose weight.......
Is "aspartame" the main reason?which causes my metabolism slower than others?? and makes my body easier to store fat than other people?
Thank you for your answers...........
Answers:
yea all artificial sweeteners eventually catch up to you and most of them contain ingrediants that causes serious problems like cancer and liver/kidney damage (contains things like chlorine)...msg is another problem chemical thats added to alot of foods (at places like any fast food restaurant)....it makes you hungrier and causes weight gain....you should eat only natural and whole foods...more vegtables...etc....if you still cant lose weight you should see a doctor to make sure you arent losing it because a medical reason...also try to stay away from things that say...fat free or sugar free...try to go organic it will also make you feel better!

OH,GOODNESS ME YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
It's not going to have a direct effect on your metabolism, but what it does is increase your appetite, so you need more food to feel full, which could interfere with your weight loss efforts.
There are so many factors that affect metabolism, that only a health professional who's able to perform specific tests on you can tell you exactly what's happening with your body's metabolism.
The number on the scale is only one thing. It doesn't take into account the density of your bones, or the amount of muscle your body has. You might not need to lose the 15lbs, have you thought about that?
if that's true i may just go out and get some. lol. i have the exact opposite problem. i can't keep the weight on my metabolism is too high. i wish i could take those 15 lbs from you and keep it.
My husband loves this book. It has a lot of stuff about how to speed up your metabolism through natural foods.
'Natural Cures They Don’t Want You To Know About! by Kevin Trudeau'
i don't think so recently i lost 25lbs i did so by giving up sugar i only consume diet drinks and pink sugar in my coffee so in my opinion no aspartame is not fattening
Yes! Try Naturally Sweet instead. It's natural, has "0" calories and is suitable for diabetics.
Aspartame and other artificial sweeteners get hammered in health community from time to time. Most of it is unfounded. There is no evidence that aspartame slows down metabolism. I don’t think aspartame is a reason for your difficulty to lose weight.
My recommendation is to reevaluate your diet and exercise plan.
In reference to the person above, DO NOT BUY THAT KEVIN TRUDEAU book. He is a scam artist and his stuff is allowed to be peddled on TV and elseware just because of freedom of speech.
Eliminate, as much as possible, all caloric and noncaloric sweeteners. Eat naturally occurring sugar found in fruits and vegetables. Use Stevia as a sweetener. Here is a link that lists all the different types of sugar: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002444.htm
You need to stop drinking the diet sodas for weight loss and health reasons.
According to the latest study something linked to diet soda drinking is also linked to obesity. Here is the article:http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/06/1...
Also, colas in general are very bad for you. Please read this excerpt from the book "Fantastic Voyage" by Grossman/Kurzweil: "Most soft drinks, particularly colas, are extremely acidic. To prevent acidic poisoning from cola (or other acid) consumption, the body uses two strategies. One is to use alkaline blood buffers (for example, sodium bicarbonate and sodium phosphate) to buffer (neutralize) the acid. The other strategy is to convert these volatile liquid acids into less-reactive solid acids. However, there were no colas thousands of years ago, so our bodies did not evolve to deal effectively with the onslaught of acids that many people consume today.
When the body's limited supply of alkaline buffers is defeated, these toxic acidic waste products accumulate in the body, causing significant health damage.
There are two strategies that you can use to restore your body's alkaline reserves, which are needed for detoxification and destroying oxygen free radicals:
1) Avoid indigestible acids found in soft drinks, particularly colas.
2) Drink alkaline water produced with an alkaline water machine."
The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:
*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm
Get an online, desktop, or cell phone diet and fitness calculator. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.
Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com
Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier.
