Which are easy ways to practice Portion Control?
Question:
Answers:
That is perhaps the hardest thing to overcome.
Don't let yourself be too hungry. Use your hand as a measuring stick - I don't know how much you want to eat, but my trainer told me that meat should be about the size of your palm and that everything else you eat should be able to fit on one hand.
Drinking water or iced tea before you start eating usually does some good...
But the key is - DON'T LET YOURSELF GO HUNGRY. If I get hungry, I'll eat the plate too!!! So careful with that. Best thing is to resign yourself to having 5-6 small meals per day rather than just three or less.
Good luck!

Use a smaller serving spoon.
Don't put so much friggin food on your friggin plate!
change the size of the plate!
smaller plates!!
don't use a standard size plate, go for the next size down and don't have seconds.......and do as they do in england...put your fork and knife down between each bite, eat slower and you'll feel full when you are full, if you eat fast, you get the full feeling once you have over-stuffed yourself
Push your plate away before you normally would stop eating. It has worked quite well for me.
May God bless and keep you.
One thing that I'm still struggling with on my quest to lose weight is to tell myself 'Its ok not to clean the entire plate, you can waste some food'. Thats the thing that has really helped me not over eat
everytime you eat, fill your plate like you normally would. then, with your fork/spoon, divide all your food by half at LEAST, and only eat what you have left. you could also try using a very small plate, so that its impossible for you to overeat too much.
Smaller plates for 1, and just put smaller portions on it
serve your food without plates:)
Take a bite, put down your fork or spoon, then try finishing your bite (chewing and swallowing) before you pick up your spoon to get your next bite ready.
it slows your eating down and you will feel full faster
wear magnafying glasses...
The best and only way is sefl control my friend. You must have the strong will to lose weight and desire to change your way of eating.
A smaller plate makes it look like there is more food and it sorta plays a little trick on your mind, and you wont want more food.
Every serving should be no bigger than your fist.
Eat out of small bowls... I use soup bowls when I eat out in an all you can eat restaurant.
A serving should be about the size of the palm of your hand....
Drink a large glass of water before and during your meal...
change the plate size is good. also eat no more of a food than the size of your fist. eat small pieces of fruit or a half piece.
Serve yourself on a smaller plate (a lunch size plate, not the big dinner plate)...don't prepare more than one portion of food for yourself, so you won't be tempted to go back for seconds...a portion of meat should be about the size of a pack of playing cards...veggies, about what would fit in your cupped hand...
Portion control has always been an issue for me...I eat like a starving field hand...LOL!
Measure everything. Also, skip dinner plates and use little salad plates or even tea cup plates. They also say to put your fork down between bites because your belly fills up but your mind still thinks you're hungry. Doing this takes longer and gives your mind a chance to catch up with your stomach.
When you fix a plate of food, make sure you give one third to your large dog, and the other third to your other large dog, & only consume the amount you have left. Buy only ORGANIC.
using a smaller spoon or fork will help and to also eat slow it takes 15 mins before you will feel fool. if you eat slower you will fill up faster on less food.
Use a smaller plate, it tricks the mind to think you have a full plate
Don't cook more than one serving. Here is what I do. I measure 1 cup of pasta and 1/2 cup of rice. Even if I am cooking dinner for myself, I will cook my measured pasta or rice in another pot for me. then I know exactly how much I can eat.

Use a smaller plate...eat slower and when your satisfied just stop. When you are at a restaurant either split a meal with someone or cut yours in half and put it in a to go box first then just eat the half. I just eat half of everything. If I throw it away I don't look at it as waste because if I ate it wouldn't I be just wasting it anyway...the extra is serving no good purpose in my body except adding weight. I had a friend that would douse her remaining food with tons of salt and pepper so it wouldn't be tempting to pick at...cuz if it's just there in front of you you'll tend to pick at it and before you know it you've consumed the rest. mindlessly. Hope that helps...Good Luck!!! :)
There are several ways to accomplish portion control. The first method is known as the hand and eyeball method. Under this method protein amount is of the size and thickness of your palm, carbohydrates amount is equal to the both fists and fat amount equal to the tips of your thumb. The most precise and complicated method is to measure everything out.
The second method known as the plate method. Use a 7-inch salad plate. Next divide the plate into 3 portions. 1/3 will be the protein and the remaining 2/3 will be low glycemic index vegetables. What about the fat portion? Fat can be in the form of dressing.
If you want to be very precise on your portion control, then try the third method i.e. measure everything out. Under this method, protein source for meat weight 3 ounces at most and 5 ounces for fish.
