is PASTA really fattening and bad for you?

Question:

Answers:
Pasta is mainly carbohydrates, so it is really just like eating bread. With the addition on tomato sauce and other vegetables in the sauce and some meat on top it is a good complete meal. It is not fattening in and of itself as long as you don't gorge yourself on it (anything is fattening that way). Also avoid alfredo sauce, it is pure fat, which is why it is so good, so save it for your birthday.

it isnt that pasta is it is that they are saying that carbs are bad. with the rise of the adkins diet then the seperation of good carbs and bad carbs.

but in all actuallity if you are a active person in most aspects just eat carbs in moderation and it shouldnt be that big fattening substance nor bad for you.
It's not so much the pasta, it's more the sauces we tend to put on it.
Try more simple pasta, like halved cherry tomatoes and shredded basil.
Yummy
Pasta itself in NOT fattening but anything you add to it can be (cream sauces, cheese, meats, etc.) Pasta is actually good for you (better to choose the whole grain variety) and is a source of quick energy.
It is fattening if you eat too much of it. However, it has carbs that your body needs for energy. Just don't go overboard on pasta
Two things can make pasta bad for you: Too much of it and not the right kind. White pasta with unbleached, white flour has more simple carbs (sugars) that can spike your blood sugar and make you feel heavy and lethargic after eating a lot of it (like after a big dinner at the Olive Garden). On the other hand, whole wheat pastas or vegetable pastas have more complex carbs that are better for you in quantity. However, if you manage your pasta intake (ie don't eat a lot at a time and not every day), it's perfectly fine for you, either white or whole wheat (while the whole wheat is generally recommended.)
Pasta itself is not bad for you, it is the sauces that accompany it that make it fattening and unhealthy. Obviously though pasta has to be eaten in moderation.if you take a mega-helping then it will be fattening.but a normal sized portion with a low-fat sauce would be considered a good healthy, well-balanced meal.
Pasta is a low fat food with very little saturated fat in it, however, it is high in carbohydrate which some diets prohibit.

Pasta in moderation wont make you gain weight, it's really the sauces full of cheese and oil etc that cause the problems. Pasta isn't bad for you, it's certainly a better alternative to high fat foods - wholewheat pasta is best if you're concerned about your health.
It has lot of calories so it's not a good choice if youre on a diet.
I eat pasta nearly every other day for lunch.
I don't put weight on but if you eat too much
it will give you constipation.
pasta has carbohydrates and more consumption of that makes you gain weight.
White brands are refined so you body doesn't get to break it down - better trying wholemeal pasta in moderation.
