What are growth hormones and how do they work? and are there any bad side effects?
Question:
Answers:
Human growth hormone (HGH) can increase muscle, decrease fat and improve aerobic capacity. The bad news, however, is that some of those benefits aren't as great as they seem at first blush. Moreover, the treatment has all sorts of unpleasant or dangerous side effects. They include swelling, arthritis-like joint pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and, most seriously, an increase in glucose intolerance and diabetes.
You should not even begin to consider GH supplementation if you're are under 40 years of age unless recommended by a physician (even then I'd get a second opinion)
Other Answers:
growth hormones taken exogenously after bone plates have fused gives you acromegaly.
the body naturally produces quite a few hormones. but, i am assuming that you are refering to the HGH (human growth hormone) that a lot of athletes are taking. it is a synthetic version of HGH that is responsible for bone growth.and can also have a dramatic effect on strength.
If you take a look at pro-bodybuilders you will notice that their hands/finger foreheads. all look too big - that is from taking HGH. Also, if you see on of them with a shirt on you may notice that they look fat - have a big belly. That is also from taking HGH.
there are many potential side effect including a rare, incurable form of diabetes.
There are different types of growth hormone you can get, I've tried something called Norateen which is used for increasing muscle growth during training. All it does is deposit more Protein into your muscles after a work out. I didn't have any side effects, but to be honest it didn't really work that well, and it's expensive!
