Deadlifts....?
Question:
Answers:
Ryan you are probably OK. If your lower back hurt so bad that you couldn't get out of bed, then you might have had a problem.
Even so, I agree with the other poster. When doing deadlifts, make sure to never lock your knees and use your hamstrings (back of thigh muscles). If you lock your knees, this would force you to use your back too much and would also put a strain on your joints.
So basically, yea it is totally normal for your lower back to be sore. I would wait until at least that soreness goes away before you do deadlifts again.

you need to strengthen your lower back, you'll be fine...but use your legs more
Yes its normal. Deadlifts is a great full body workout. Your lower back will hurt because you are using it during your execise but to avoid injury you should keep your deadlift limit to an amount under 8 a lot of powerlifters use a routine something like 5 sets of 5.
Somthing like
135 5 reps set 1
225 5 reps set 2
255 5 reps set 3
275 5 reps set 4
315 5 reps set 5
Now, this is probably a little much to most guys starting out but to me its light. Either way what are your goals and stats maybe I can help you design a program?
A sore lower back results from weak core stabilizers and improper posture.
