how can i make running fun??
Question:
Answers:
1) Try a different route. Trail running is fantastic.
2) Set a goal. Sign up for a race in the future and train for it. A 5K is 3.1 miles. I find racing extremely addictive and the social aspect is fantastic. Or work on increasing pace or distance.
3) Run outside. If you are on treadmill, you are going to be bored.
4) Don't feel obligated to run everyday. Run 3 times a week and do something else on the other days.
5) Make sure you are comfortable. If you are working too hard or are in pain, running will not be fun.
6) Grab a magazine like Runner's World (http://www.runnersworld.com). They have a lot of motivational articles and tips.
7) Go longer. Running 1 mile doesn't allow the endorphins to quite kick in. I don't feel like I've had a quality workout until I've done at least 3. Try going longer.
If all else fails, you may not be suited to be a runner. Don't make yourself miserable over it, find something else you enjoy doing and move on.
Good luck.
Other Answers:
Well, run with a friend, a dog, or set up for yourself a reward system.
Like, if you do really good at running and meet a goal, like going everyday, or a new distance or time improvement, then treat yourself to something nice like a new pair of running shoes or an ice cream sundae.
Hey here's an idea, tie little bells to your shoes and make music while you run!

have a running buddy, or listen to music, I sing when i run, also change your running path to keep the scenary different. I also like to run at different times in the day and listen to the different sounds around me, good luck!
Commit a crime, then see if you can get away from the cops.
try running naked.its liberating. Imagine yourself as Rocky and have that theme music playing in your head. You might have to get use to people looking at you while your puching the air and what not, but it can help pass time while you run.

I know what you mean, I tried running for awhile, and got bored too. I finally went to a club and started taking classes because I always had loved to dance, anyway what do you know, now I teach those classes! I really tried to like running but I got so bored too, sorry I'm of no help, but I do understand! lol run with a friend or put something at the finish line like a nice cool soda
Get an Mp3 player.
try telling jokes on the spot with a few friends and you can laugh yourself fit
Assuming you are running outside, try running a different course every day. Pick your city's favorite site and plan a course that runs towards or through it. I run in San Francisco, right below the Golden Gate Bridge and the view never ceases to amaze me.
If you are running on a treadmill, try to alter speeds and try to set a new "personal" record every time, say, try to run a mile in 9:30 minutes instead of 9:55 and so on. The challenge makes it so much more fun!
Get a friend, dog, or ipod.
Make a "reward" for yourself if you do.
try running in the ghetto. that should keep ya busy. Run with someone and talk as your running. It goes so much faster if you are talking as you run. Also run towards the morning when you still have energy.
Bring a friend. You two can run and then grab lunch, or maybe even a healthy smoothie afterwards.
Maybe try this- run for a mile (or a half mile), then rest and grab something to drink. Walk around, just regularly, and enjoy the beautiful day. Then jog home. It's nice to have a distraction from straight running for long periods of time.
Here are some of the things I do, I know they do not sound exciting and some are odd, but they pass the time.
- try to do math in my head
- try to remember lists
- I sing
- I count steps
- I plan my day
- I try to remember every step of my previous day
- sometimes I skip, hop, run backwards, run sideways (can be dangerous if you are not careful)
- bounce a basketball
- run on a curb trying to balance (can be dangerous if you are not careful)
- run with my dog
- run at different times of the day
- run carrying light weights
- listen to books on tape/cd
- see if I can do my full trip without anyone seeing me (weird but kind of fun)
- try not to step on shadows
- time yourself
I have a portable GPS and I use it to look at my speed, distance, elavation, time etc. I track the info from my run and build a graph of my progress. wear an mp3 player..or something that plays good music
get hyped up on energy just before the run.(ie: caffeine, carbs..)
-but not too much, cuz you don't want to cramp.
take a dog or buddy with you
run in a new neighborhood
wear spandex around your legs
and some good shoes
think about something you're passionate about.. don't just run.skip, hop jog,run backward.that's what i would do to make it more fun.or run with someone or a pet
