I was wondering if working out 20 minutes a day is enough?
Question:
Answers:
20 minutes is a nice cardio workout, but if you want to build muscle, no. For example, I do bench press three sets about five times. Than I would do bicep workouts, three sets, five reps. And finally, I do forearm workouts. And your supposed to have at least two minute rest between reps. Remember, less reps, more weight builds muscle mass; while less weight, more reps builds muscle endurance.
It really depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you are already a healthy weight and just looking to tone up a bit, yeah 20 minutes a day is great. If you are trying to lose weight, you should do more and include at least 30 minutes of cardio a day on top of weight training every other day.
20 minutes.eh.
No, I dont think so. Not if you want results.
it takes the body half an hour of exercise before it starts to burn fat-45 mins is good per day. 20 mins is not.
For a weight loss/muscle gain goal 20 mins. is not enough the daily recommended amount of time to exercises is 60 mins. to boost muscle mass you should do less reps but increase the amount of weight.for tone do burnout sets with a medium amount of weight. Switching exercises is good but try lifting every other day and running on your off days.this will boost cardio and weight loss as well as revive the muscles and work out the soreness.
Are we talking cardio or weight training?
If you're weight training: do it by muscle groups, not by time.
Try to work two muscle groups a day (bi/tri, chest/shoulders, trap/lats, legs/butt/abs, etc.).
Go here: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercise.
What I do is I pick maybe 4 different exercises for each muscle (so 8 exercises total a day for the two muscles I'm working) and then do 15 reps, 3 sets of each.
When it comes to weights I don't rush myself, I finish when I finish.
Now when it comes to cardio (running, biking, etc.), that depends what your goal is. If you are trying to gain endurance and strenght, then go for what you can handle (maybe an hour a day or more if your body is used to it and can handle it). If you are trying to drop your fat %, it's best to do no more than 30 mins per day. Why? When you exercise for too long, a stress hormone called cortisole is produced and it stores your fat, making it harder to burn if off. Basically, when it comes to weight loss, shorter more intense workouts are far better than longer, less intense ones. Look into HIIT (high intensity interval training) workouts. Doing that, you can get a day's worth of effective cardio done in 14-20 minutes by doing intervals and sprints.
Okay, hope that covered what you asked.
if twenty minutes is working, so be it. but if it is not, or if you are at stand still, increase it by five, ten minutes.you will see results
