Are flax seeds eaten whole as beneficial as ground flax seeds?

Question:

Answers:
certainly, so long as no part of the seed is removed during the grinding.

P.S. Sjean, your digestive system is so effective that they do not pass through intact. Your system leaves the shell mainly in one piece, but it extracts the essential fats contained in the seed (omega-3s).

Other Answers:
Try the oil. I like that one better. But either way you eat Flax Seed, its beneficial no matter what.

No, I've read that they're so tiny and hard that they just generally pass through your digestive system intact. Flaxseed is beneficial but ground up flaxseed you get the inner part of seed that is most beneficial. The whole seed is NOT as beneficial and is being passed whole(if you know what I mean). Go for the ground flaxseed!

no they are not, they pretty much pass right through.
In order to get the full benefit from them you must grind them up
