Answers:
Look on the nutritional labels and avoid Na or sodium. Would not eliminate sodium completely from diet. Keep sodium to about 1.2 - 2 grams per day.
There are other forms of sodium. The table salt is sodium cloride. When you eat at a chinese restaurant they use MSG which is monosodium glutamate which has sodium in it.

Any food product with "sodium" listed as one of the top five ingredients is full of salt. A good rule of thumb is that if you got it out of a can or box, don't eat it. If you want to stay away from salty foods, start cooking things from scratch.

ALL processed food has tons of sodium in it. Your best bet is to stick with mostly fresh produce.
Most processed foods have lots of salt - most anything that comes in a bag, a box or a can. Eat more fresh or frozen fruits & vegetables, plain grains, etc. The more color food has, and the fresher it is, the less salt it probably has in it.
read the labels. Foods you never thought of as salty might have a lot of salt/sodium in them. Like Snackwell low fat cookies are loaded with sodium and so are most canned soups.
See below site which goes into detail about this. Which foods need a lot and which ones do not. Processed foods get lots of salt. Look at the labels.

Canned foods, especially soups are loaded with salt. Fast food, especially chinese food is very salty. Avoid adding any salt to your food at the table. Check the labels of the products you buy for their sodium content. When you must add salt to recipes, try the "Half-Salt" salt products. Good luck!
read labels under sodium and if it's a high number stay away
The best way to know what the salt content is, is to look on the list of ingredients on the package.
