can i lose weight with protein shakes?
Question:
Answers:
no way. i'm an endurance athlete and we use protein shakes to put on weight that we've lost. you want to eat healthy and not shock your body with unnecessary amounts of protein.
Other Answers:
yeha i did
dont life heavy weights....i would just run double the time instead of lifting weights...sometimes girls gain weight when tehy work out...especially if you dotn know what you are doing....take the protein shakes, and just run and drink lots of water...and eat veggies too.
You can't.
Yes you can if you combine them with weight training like you are. You will build more muscle which will in-turn burn more calories in a days time
well because ur getting all that protein and working out, the running is good for cardio and weight loss but weight training with all that protein will build muscles faster, and muscles weigh a lot. so its probably only muscle weight ur gaining
Protien shakes and wieght lifting are meant to gain muscle, which is good, if you want to lose weight keep running and don't take in so much protien
let me think...
if ur eating MORE, u'll gain MORE!
GOSH, NAPOLEON, GOSH!
protein shakes help you build muscle. you may lose some fat, but the muscle you gain will weigh more than your fat, so u'll likely gain alot more weight
yes u can
(beavis and butthead voice)
Heh Heh Heh - you said "protein shake" heh heh heh
Protein shakes are meant to decrease the amount of fact that your body has and increase the amount of muscles. Since muscle weighs more than fat, I believe that you will gain weight rather than lose weight.
drink like lemon or slim fast dont drink protein shakes these r for men for weight gain or muscle gain
no my bros use them to get bigger
Protein shakes will cause you to gain whieght! It is for building muscle! Try High Fiber, and more Cardy-o.
Jesus, you should already be losing weight... I can't think of a better way to do it, just make sure you're taking vitamins and eating some vegetables and breads (not white bread, make sure it's whole grain, the heavier the better) to round out your diet.... Don't kill yourself to lose a few pounds...
No...you are misusing protein shakes...also, be careful using too much of that stuff...it can cause major constipation (seriously). You have to drink lots of water too. Protein shakes are used to help build muscle, not lose weight. 5 small meals a day, plenty of water, exercise and a balanced diet will be enough.
you can lose weight if you SUBSTITUTE a protein shake with one meal, but not if you ADD it to your meal -- because that's extra calories.
i think they can be effective, i've tried it and they're very filling. i can't believe i felt "full" just by drinking one glass of protein shake. but it's not healthy to substitute it to all meals... never ever substitute it for breakfast -- always eat a balanced and healthy breakfast. i suggest you substitute it for dinner instead -- because you are going to be less active during the night, so you don't have to eat a big meal.
yuk! Why would you want to add all that heavy protein to your body?!
Of course you gained...you are providing your muscles with fuel to create more lean muscle mass. Nothing wrong with that, but you sound upset and so your goal must not be one to add more mass than what you usually have.
Remember, you are what you eat & drink. So, eat balanced meals with many colors to start.
3 Protein shakes? I don't think you can lose weight drinking protein...
I know they're very good for gaining streinght and muscular mass, but for loosing weight... nope... You see, they provide you with everything your body requiers... so you only gain... I think the best way is for you to go only to the gym... not use protein... :) aaand it can affect your stomach... some of them...
Your best bet for sustainable healthy weight loss can be summed up in six words:
eat less
eat better
move more

It looks like you've got the first and last item nailed down. Not sure about the protein shakes though. No substitute for a balanced meal surely, and how many calories do those things have? Think about it. As far as gaining weight is concerned, keep in mind that as you excercise and weight train you will gain muscle. Just keep up the cardio, maybe up your run to 45 minutes or an hour if you have time, and over time you should start to experience weight loss. It will take time though.
I would say have 2 shakes a day instead of three and make sure you take a stool softener or lots of water and fiber or the shakes will plug you up! Muscle weighs more than fat and you should judge your success at first by loose clothes and lost inches.
with all of that protein you are taking in more calories than you are burning off. Also protein helps build muscle when paired with exercise. And everyone knows muscle weighs more than fat. Measure yourself in inches not pounds. It is possible to weigh more and still be alot skinnier.
No matter what you're diet plan is they all come down to one thing... You have to eat fewer calories than you burn.. Hey, how many calories in one protein shake?
So, if one protein shake fills you up and you skip a meal, but you still have the energy to work out for a hour... Sure, you'll lose weight with protein shakes.
Some of the shakes you drink can help, others, not so helpful. I have never tried it but it should work.Maybe....Good luck!
No, ma dearie.
There is no way to lose weight other than eating healthy, excersising daily, and living a relaxed lifestyle (in other words, stay calm in stressful situations).
Really, though, eat four, small balanced meals daily. If you are only eating one, that will make you gain weight. Starving yourself is the worst thing you can possbily do for your body. The protein shakes can make you gain weight, too. They aren't good for you.
Putting on weight once you've started excercising is perfectly normal and means that you are doing a good job. Muscle weighs more than fat. Chances are, you have lost some fat and gained muscle mass to replace it. Since this new muscle weighs more than the fat it took the place of, you may gain up to ten pounds. Meanwhile, you will drop sizes. Funny, huh?
Good luck with your weight loss program. More Americans need to get out there and excersise and take care of their bodies. Here's to a new, healthy body for you!

you're doing all that work and not eating real food. Doesn't sound to me like a good way to go. I'd be surprised if you don't collapse soon.
dont drink shakes. like slim fast.eeeeewwww.go running at night with your friends or parents, NEVER RUN ALONE. Its dangerous! running at night gives you more energy to run than in daytime. and sweating is good .it means the fat is burnning up .oh and dont eat fast food candy and other junk foods .and read your labels.don't eat processed foods and cut way down on salt and sugar.
Eat healthy foods, lots of vegetables and fruit, and LEAN meats. Keep your food protions to the size of your fist.
Eat lots of small meals instesd of one or two big meals. Do alot of sit-ups to get a beautiful and sexy figure.

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:
*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm
Get an online, desktop, or cell phone diet and fitness calculator. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.
Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html
It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.
Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.
*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com
Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier.
