Try YMCA, karate maybe, go to a 24 hour fitness if there is one in your area, and talk to an associate on what programs they have for younger children. I hope no one on here gives you a smart *** answer I think its great that you are doing something about this problem early in their lives they will thank you later.

Try the YMCA. Take them swimming (very good exercise). Basketball is available there also. The YMCA has several things to keep your youngsters occupied and busy!! Good luck hun!

Lol I've been overweight since I was 11 or 12, its because mainly I was bullied. Maybe your kids are being bullied, ask them.
Who exactly is there parent, here? Kids follow by the example parents set. Do you workout? Don't give them takeout food, no Micky-D's, no candy, no ice cream. Stay away from fried foods, no french fries, and cut down on the bread and potatoes. Enroll them on a sports team, whether they like it or not. Baseball or something. Make them do the lawn. Set TV and computer time for a certain amount of hours per day.
Personally, there are too many kids that need this kind of thing. I think that is due to too much TV/PlayStation time, or in front of the computer, combined with too much unhealthy food. My suggestion is to use the gym in the back yard or at the park. Kids should be outside playing with their friends, building forts, playing hide and seek, whatever. Just be active rather than sitting in front of a monitor all day long.
Try to make exercise fun, rather than seeming like it is for their good. Maybe a karate class or a dance class or something like that. Kids that young definately do NOT need to be lifting weights. Just running or swimming, Just try to make it more fun than exercise.

It's great that kids are thinking about weight problems and the best way to solve them, Dr. Hassink says. It's like putting together a difficult puzzle. Understanding that there's a problem is one piece. Understanding what causes kids to be overweight is another. And knowing that eating healthy and exercising are the best strategies to fix the problem is a very important piece. But the puzzle won't be solved until kids and adults figure out how to take action.
"The next step - once you know that healthy eating and healthy exercise is the right way to maintain weight - is to find out how to do it," she says. "The important thing is that you are asking the next question."
