I am getting older and my weight keeps going to my stomach. I have started doing ab exercises but I hate them

Question:
Do I have to do ab exercises or is cardio enough. Should I try doing cardio for a while, and then start ab exercises, and why do I hate ab exercises. They hurt, and I can't stand it. Is there any easy ab exercises to get me started, and will I get fatter if I don't get rid of the stomach before I do them.

Answers:
Yes there is a easy one, leg lifts: lay on your back and lift your legs up slowly, then down again don't let your feet touch the ground let them hover for about 3 seconds then go up again, I find this far less annoying then situps , and you get results

welcome to the real world!

Do both. If you don't strengthen your abs, this will affect your posture. Also, males are prone to get hernias as they get older.keeping your abs strong helps prevent this.

Cardio, of course, will help burn the weight everywhere, not just around your stomach. It's tough making the effort to stay in shape, don't give up and be out of shape (like most people)!

this is hard, but unfortunutely - human. when age, your body change a lot. Do both excercises and alternate daily.
There is no easy way out. Something does not sound right. To an extend ab exercises should hurt, but the way you describe sounds very extreme? Maybe you are doing these exercises in the
wrong way ? Try get professional advice on how to do them and enjoy them. All the best

Well like they say" no pain, no game".Exercises that target the abs will always hurt in the begining and you'll become sore of course it's normal but the more you keep doing them you'll get use to the pain. Later you wont think about and you won't feel it. do little sets at first (four days outta the week ) then gradually increase them. I started off with 3 sets of 5 then later 3 sets of 7 then 10 , so on and so on .The trick is to do as much as you can stand per day. Hopefully it works for you. GOOD LUCK! Burn more calories everyday. It sounds simple but it works. Most people do not know how to calculate this. The basic formula is Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity.
