What are some reasons why I can't lose weight?

Question:
I read an article in Health magazine about a few reasons why people cannot lose weight. One was thyroid and there was another that I cannot remember. I've been working out everyday for the last 3 months and have only lost about 4 lbs. I've had my thyroid checked recently and my levels were fine.

Answers:
Most people are around 10 to 15% of their normal weight range. This could fluctuate depending on your emotional state. Some people gain or lose weight when happy or sad etc.

Cut down on your intake of food. I have found that to be the best method. Instead of a double cheese burger just eat a cheese burger for lunch.

Other Answers:
Its your diet
your diet
Have you decreased your caloric intake, particularly of fats and refined sugar and starch products?
You absolutely don't measure your calories.
Eat healthier and it doesn't matter if you work out everyday...you have to be sweating for it to be doing any good.
mi no know mi no know yu
I agree - diet has a lot to do with it. You could work out 7 days a week, but if you eat crap you're not going to lose any weight. Try to include more fruits and veggies in your diet. Check out weightwatchers.com points system. I lost 30 pounds that way.
How old are you? After 30 its more difficult.Make sure you are getting at least 45 minutes of cardio a day.thats when you burn those calories.if your hearts not pounding ,its not cardio!
Thyroid? LMFAO. You eat too much, you're lazy, and you eat too much. You've been working out "everyday[sic]"? For how long? 2-3 hours?10 minutes? Get moving, fatty. This is my guess, anyway.
You must not be eating well.
Keep working out, eat healthy and stay stress free. Just keep going, dont give up. Losing 4 pounds is better than losing none.
Think about it, 4 lbs in 3 months is 12 pounds a year. If you live to the age of 100 you have a potential weight loss of 1200 pounds. Pretty good.

Actually it is common when people work out to convert fat to muscle, so you can be getting into better shape without losing much weight. Just stick with the program and the weight will come.
Drink more water.

Eat fruit, and veggies.. not potatoes, corn ,etc.

No white bread, only whole grain.

eat every 2 to 3 hrs.

Find out how many calories your body needs then how many it needs to lose weight.

( you could not be eating enough calories..this has happened to me ... I was so shocked! )

So, good luck, I know how you feel..
But,, I know I cheat a lot.
are u eating alot?
You may not be getting enough protein to support muscle building which in turn burns more fat for weight loss. Try a higher fiber lower fat and higher protein diet. Best wishes!
When your mind detects that you have started loosing weight it's self-preservation mechanism (homeostasis) is oblivious to the possibility that this weight loss is good. It screws with your metobolism and comfort through insulin, hunger pains, etc. to avoid you starving to death. A mind is a terrible thing-- in this instance. If you only loose a pound or two a week this undesireable response is not as strong.
I am so happy this question was asked. I can help you as I am in the same situation as you are and have had wonderful sucsess. First it is very important, You drink at least 6 - 8oz glasses of water a day very essential. Then make sure you have a fiber breakfast in the morning and eat a healthy proper measured meal three times a day with two fuit snacks , exersixe every day and join a Weight watcher support group. I lost over 50 pounds so far. It is very important to watch amounts and what you eat.It is working for me, and I am also on thyroid meds. Please hang in there, Don't give up. Think possitive. You can do it, I am holding good thoughts for you my friend. if at all possible try to give up sweets. If you can not then try low fat treats
Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)
You may be insulin resistant or have metabolic syndrome. I did. Try a cleansing diet! I tried this and lost 10.5 pounds and 17 inches in 9 days. Then I continued it and lost 25 pounds in 5 weeks. This program works to remove the toxins in the body that are stored in the fat cells. You cannot get rid of the fat cells unless you get rid of the toxins. We get toxins from pesticides, preservatives, fast food additives, chemicals, pollution, smoke etc… I have been on Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast and Atkins. All work great for a few weeks then the weight loss slows to 1 or 2 pounds a week and the motivation drops. This was my first experience with cleansing and it worked wonderful! You can order at 1-877-587-4647. It is not a cheap program, but it works and is worth every penny!
The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm

Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
