Maybe not the way you were thinking but this is how it could work. When I listen to music I like, I may turn up the base/volume and then it makes my heart rate speed up, which causes you to burn more calories. However, i think if you sit in your couch as you listen this is not much of a workout. Rather get up an dance or workout to the music and that is your ticket since your heart rate will elevate even more, which is the key to burning calories. I workout to music all the time for this phenomenon.
